In a year like no other, Alsager and District Foodbank has calculated the figures for 2020, with the total in brackets being the comparable numbers for the year before (2019).

The foodbank, a project of Alsager Community Church, was able to help feed 133 (104) referred households during 2020, which consisted of 183 (126) adults and 148 (103) children.

To fulfil the needs of these households in 2020, 1189 (687) adult units and 1327 (878) children units (1 unit = one week's worth of food) were handed out.

The food was provided across an average of 6.5 weeks to each adult and nine weeks to each child.

This compared to 5.4 weeks to each adult and 8.5 weeks to each child in 2019.

Tracey Abbott, Alsager and District Foodbank co-ordinator, said: "We couldn't have done it without you and we continue to need your help as we enter 2021, what a great community we live in.

"The generosity from the people of Alsager and surrounding areas has been overwhelming and we realise so many people are finding life and finances very difficult, we hope that with your support to continue our work in 2021.

"Above all please stay healthy and safe."
