Heartwarming tale: Romanian rescue dog inspires new pet shop and four new jobs in Alsager

Rescuing a Romanian dog just hours away from death was the turning point for an animal loving South Cheshire couple to start their own dog business empire.
Animal lovers Donna Bonser and her partner Phil Lane decided to adopt their dog, Valentina, from a Romanian rescue centre just hours before it was about to be put down.

But little did they know that this move would be the start of their dog business which began in Crewe and has now expanded into Alsager, creating four new jobs in the town.
"Our dog was used to eating wet food and we found it harder and harder to source this where we were living at the time," said Donna.
"We did some research and decided to launch a business within two hours of so of where we were living the time.

"We hit on Crewe where we opened our first shop but we kept coming to Alsager to go out and thought what a lovely town it is, so we waited for the right property to come up."
The couple have just opened 'The Dogs Dinner' in Lawton Road, on the oppposite side of the road to Asda and Chatwins.
"We've had an amazing response so far," said Donna. "The Alsager people have been wonderful and we've had a great start. If we continue at the rate we're going we'll overtake our Crewe shop."
The Dog's Dinner stocks a range of products for man's best friend - dogs - from wet food to packet treats and toys and everything in between.

Donna added: "We love everything about dogs and Phil is very knowledgeable about them. We're so pleased so far."
And the couple have not ruled out opening more shops possibly in Sandbach or the Nantwich area, taking their 'canine recipe' for business to other towns.
"It all came about because we had trouble sourcing food for our own dog," said Donna.
