Alsager is showing how environmentally friendly and healthy it is at an event in the town today (Saturday) when a variety of organisations come together.

Health and well-being has been added to the annual event held at Alsager Civic between 9.30 am and 1 pm.

One of the organisers, Rachel White said: "For many years, Alsager Fairtrade Steering Group have held an ELF (Ethical, Local and Fairtrade) Fair at Alsager Civic during Fairtrade Fortnight.

"This has been held in February/March but this year Fairtrade Fortnight will be from Monday 9th September – Sunday 22 September 2024.

"2024 is Fairtrade Foundation's 30th birthday and the date has been changed;30 years of working together has made the Fairtrade mark a leader of life-changing impact for farmers and workers across the world.

"Last year, Alsager Town Council's Environmental and Open Spaces Working Group asked if they could join in to have an ELF And Green Fair to highlight how Alsager residents can make environmentally friendly choices to improve Alsager and address climate change.

"Alsager Partnership, sadly disbanded last September due to loss of funding, held an Annual Health and Well-being Fair at Alsager Civic in February.

"Lucie Ferneyhough, Cheshire East Council's Community Development Officer, asked if she could invite Health and Wellbeing groups to the Fair this year and this seemed a great idea!

"So there's a lot to see and learn about. Admission is free and there will be a café, raffle and children's craft activity too."
