An Alsager mum-of-two who took over an exercise group to pass on her love of keeping fit flexed her own muscles this weekend - to celebrate 10 years in business.

Franca Licata-Smith launched TRX classes at IQ Therapies in Sandbach Road South has helped numerous people get fit and improve their strength.

She holds numerous classes every week and has helped dozens of people get fit and exercise using the TRX system, also known as Total Resistance Exercises, based on a form of suspension training.

The TRX system uses equipment from America developed to help stength, balance, fleixbility and core stability simultaneously.

It uses the TRX suspension trainer - a performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user's body weight to complete the exercises

So popular are Franca's TRX classes in Alsager that she's attracted people of all ages, both men and women and this weekend she held a special birthday celebration to mark her milestone anniversary today (Sunday).

"It's such a great way to exercise," said Franca. "It's gentle on your joints and is a great way to keep flexible. We have people of all ages taking part.

"It started off just as a hobby for me but then I turned it into a business and I love it. It's a great social thing too - a group of us are going to Marbella to do a TRX and yoga event.

"It's a great way of making friends and getting fit too. I think out eldest person has been an 81 year old gentleman but the average age is probably between 40 and 55.

Franca was a product designer with a sports acccessory firm before she decided to turn her passion for TRX into a business and help others enjoy it too.

"It's such a lovely thing to do as you can go at your own pace and it really does help you to stay fit," she added.

Franca is held a birthday celebration for her business in Alsager today (Sunday)to celebrate the milestone in style.

"I never thought it would be so popular but it just took off. I'm so pleased to have helped so many people exercise and stay fit."
