The furious boss of an Alsager business has handed in a file containing 27 letters of objection from staff and 31 from customers hitting out at proposed parking charges in the town.

And she has also sent a copy to local MP, Fiona Bruce and Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner, John Dwyer, highlighting her concerns.

Angry Janet Keeling, managing director of worldwide security firm, the Senate Group, based in Crewe Road, says the plan would kill businesses.

"I worked out my staff parking for work in a nearby council car park would be paying £600 a year. There are also people who do voluntary work who would have to pay to park in town.

"This just isn't fair. I have highlighted my concerns about road safety on Crewe Road should parents stop to drop off/pick up children instead of paying to park."

Mrs Keeling's comments come just days after Councillor Keg Kain, a Cheshire East councillor for Alsager, said the council should suspend proposed parking and green bin charges until it knew how it will be financially compensated for the scrapping of HS2.

"In my opinion… the council at this moment in time has no true understanding of its budget or deficit until compensation claims have been presented to central government over this matter," Cllr Kain told a meeting of the full council as we revealed here

It also comes after Alsager Town Council said the proposal to introduce parking charges would be damaging for Alsager's economy and include charging on three car parks which were developed for residential use.

The town council argued Well Lane, Fanny's Croft and Station Road car parks were developed as residential car parks and says the introduction of charging and or/annual permit parking is a further tax on residents and will lead to on-street parking on nearby roads as we revealed here

Mrs Keeling from The Senate Group isn't the only Alsager business incensed by the plan.
