A fire in the front door of a house in Alsager is believed to have started accidently.

One fire engine from Crewe and another from Alsager went to a blaze at 4.15 am today (Tuesday) in Burgess Grove.

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A fire involving the front door of a semi-detached property was attended by firefighters, who used a hose reel to extinguish it.

"A large fan was then used to remove smoke from the house. It is believed the fire started accidentally."
