Driver and dog rescued after van overturns on M6 between Crewe and Sandbach

A driver and a dog were rescued from a van after it overturned on the M6 between Crewe and Sandbach earlier this week, with no serious injuries reported.

On Monday 5 January, emergency services were alerted to an incident between junctions 16 and 17 on the M6 North.

At 1.30pm, Cheshire Police, North West Ambulance Service and Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene.

Crewe and Alsager firefighters removed the overturned van's windscreen to free the driver and the dog, with the casualty handed over to paramedics.

All four lanes of the M6 were closed while the incident was dealt with, reopening around 3.30pm.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: At 1.30pm on Monday 5 January 2025, emergency services were called to a collision on the M6 between junctions 16 and 17.

"The caller reported that a van had overturned.

"There were no reports of any serious injuries, and the scene was cleared by 3.30pm."
