Cheshire emergency services responded to a serious car collision near Alsager - with one vehicle colliding into a lamp post and resting on a live cable.

The incident on the A500 Alsager Road, Barthomley, happened at 8:09pm last night (September 11).

Two vehicles were in collision when approaching the M6 roundabout - with one spinning off-road into a lamp post.

Cheshire Police and a Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service engine from Crewe arrived at the scene (Ryan Parker).

Police officers closed off the A500 Alsager Road from the interchange whilst dealing with the collision.

Crewe firefighters isolated the batteries in both vehicles and dealt with one resting on a live cable.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Two vehicles were involved in a collision on the A500, off the M6 roundabout.

"Fortunately nobody was trapped in the collision.

"Ambulance crews assessed all people involved in the collision and firefighters isolated the batteries in both vehicles.

Police officers closed off the A500 Alsager Road from the interchange whilst dealing with the collision (Ryan Parker).

"One lamp post was damaged in the incident with one of the vehicles resting on a live cable.

"Firefighters remained at the scene until Highways and a recovery vehicle attended to recover the vehicle."

Nub News has contacted Cheshire Constabulary for comment on the incident.
