A quintessentially rural Grade II listed church dating back to the 1860s is throwing open its doors and running a pop-up café for refreshments to celebrate the nearby Snowdrop Walks.

Tables and chairs have been set up inside the quaint All Saints' Church at Odd Rode near to the gates to the famous Rode Hall.

And visitors popping stepping inside the stunning church have a chance to see the history of the church built between 1863 and 1864, commissioned by Randle Wilbraham III of Rode Hall.

Last year the annual event couldn't take place due to Covid and lockdown restrictions but this year the organisers have made the celebration bigger than ever.

The stunning church at Scholar Green near Alsager has its own abundance of snowdrops which come out every year.

They have appeared thanks to the abundance of snowdrops at nearby Rode Hall which has over 70 varieties in the spiralling gardens.

Alsager Nub News told recently how here. the gates were now open to the walks.

The church is decorated with seasonal flowers and candles for the occasion which runs on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 12.30 pm until 3.30 pm until March 6th.

A church spokesman said: "Each year thousands of visitors flock to our parish – they come to see the magnificent collection of snowdrops that has been nurtured over many years in the grounds of Rode Hall.

"Though a familiar sight, snowdrops are not native plants in the UK. Though certainly native to Brittany, they were first planted in his country in monastic gardens in the medieval period.

"We're delighted to have some in our churchyard and to take part in this popular event."
