Proud Alsager parents, Dave and Sue Parkinson, have shared photographs of their daughter, Major Rebecca Parkinson, performing her first Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace in London in her current role.

Major Rebecca Parkinson is the first female British officer to hold the role of Captain of the King's Guard which means she's responsible for the security at The Tower of London, St Jame's Palace and Windsor Castle.

Her father, Dave Parkinson said: "We're very proud of Becky, She rang to tell me how well it had gone and said how much all her soldiers had enjoyed it."

Dave, 71, a retired lecturer and former chair of Alsager Tennis Club, said earlier this week: "We're incredibly proud of her achievements.

"They trained for three months for this and we'll be going to see her towards the end. She's always worked incredibly hard and we're so proud of all she has achieved.

"When she was at university she decided she wanted to go into the army and went to Sandhurst. She loves her job and we couldn't be happier for her."

Major Parkinson will be performing Changing of the Guards four times a week alongside her other duties in the role.
