An animal charity in Alsager founded 35 years ago has issued an urgent please for space for permanent storage.

Alsager Animals in Need was using storage in Winterley near Sandbach before moving to a house in Alsager.

Unfortunately, the owner of that property now needs to move back into the house leaving the charity without storage.

Now the group, set up in 1987, has put out a plea for storage to house coffee morning items, books, clothing and pet carriers.

And the group says it's doubly important as they are busier than ever finding homes for kittens born following the Covid animal boom.

Hilary Baxter, Alsager Animals in Need animal coordinator, is urging anyone who can help to come forward as soon as possible.

"We are desperate," she said. "We're busier than ever and rely on our coffee mornings to keep funds coming in.

"We store equipment for this and other items but unfortunately we're about to lose this storage.

"We had to move out of farm buildings in April as the farm was being sold and now we've got to move again.

"It's very busy especially with kittens as people went out and bought cats during Covid and didn't get them neutered."

The organisation works round-the-clock offering shelter and veterinary care for stray and abandoned cats and dogs.
