The Porterhous in Crewe Road is not reopening after a break.

An Alsager steakhouse and popular restaurant has closed its doors, with its owners saying they have made the "regrettable" decision due to "a change in circumstances".

The Porterhous in Crewe Road celebrated its fifth birthday in July but the business has posted on Social Media saying it was closed for a break and would not be reopening.

The business said on Facebook: "Due to a change in circumstances, we have had to take the regrettable decision not to reopen the Porterhous when we return.

"We would like to say a big thank you to all our customers that we have met over the last five years.

"We had worked really hard to make the Porterhous what it was, so it's not something that's been easy to do.

"Thank you Steve, Deb and all the wonderful staff that we have worked with. We have appreciated your help."

Porterhous customers have flooded Social Media posts following the announcement, saying how upset they are with the closure.

One comment said: "This has obviously been a hard and painful decision. We have loved and enjoyed every meal we've had with you but most of all enjoyed your personal touches and your company.

"We thank you and wish you all the best for whatever you decide to do in the future. "

Another said: "Absolutely gutted - loved it so much. So glad I recently enjoyed a meal there in July.

"It was delicious food and super service every time Good luck with your future adventures."

A spokesperson from Alsager Partnership said: "We are sorry to hear this regarding The Porterhous in our town."

Alsager Nub News has contacted The Porterhous for a comment.
