An Alsager rail workers's distinguished career will be revealed when he gives a talk to help two charities

Mayor of Cheshire East and Alsager councillor, Rod Fletcher knows a thing or two about trains.
And two charities are set to benefit from his knowledge when Cllr Fletcher, now retired, gives a talk on his distinguished career.
Rod who is now retired worked all his life in the rail industry and is giving a talk on Tuesday, April 16th, about this career.
The event will raise money for the End of Life Partnership and the Depaul Nightstop, Cheshire East.
A former rail worker, Cllr Fletcher has been a councillor for nearly 45 years. First elected to Alsager Town Council in 1979, he went on to become a Congleton Borough councillor in 1980 and served on that council until it was abolished in 2009.
He has was also a member of Cheshire County Council from 2005 to 2009 and has been a Cheshire East councillor since the authority was formed in 2009.
Cllr Fletcher's railway career began as a junior clerk with British Rail and working his way up to become control manager for a train operating company.
Cllr Fletcher worked in the control offices in Crewe and Manchester and also at traction depots in Crewe and Gorton.
His roles included railfreight distribution manager for the London Midland Region, national van controller for Rail Express Systems and his final position was company control manger for Transrail/EWS.
The talk takes place from 7 pm until 9 pm at the Municipal Buildings, Earle Street, Crewe. The cost of a ticket is a minimum donation towards of £10 towards the Mayor's charities.
