It's the last day outside today (Wednesday) for Alsager's weekly market – from next week the market moves inside.

Set up in April 1994, Alsager Market, run by Alsager Town Council has taken place in Fairview car park.

But from next Wednesday (April 5th), the market moves inside to Alsager Civic, with just a few stalls remaining outside.

Alsager Nub News told here https://alsager.nub.news/news/local-news/furious-alsager-resident-launches-petition-to-save-alsagers-wednesday-outdoor-market-167911 how traders launched a petition to keep the market outside.

Alsager Town council said the gazebos used were outdated and it couldn't afford to replace them due to cost-cutting measures.

The town council said it took the move to save money and keep council tax for residents as low as possible.

Traders are hoping the new-look inside market will work and the traditional Wednesday market will continue to flourish.
