Alsager West ward remains in the highest bracket for Covid-19 cases per 100,000 according to latest figures

With the second national lockdown starting today (Thursday), the latest Covid-19 figures show that the Alsager West ward remains in the highest bracket for coronavirus cases per 100,000 people.

However, while 29 cases were reported in Alsager West in the seven days up to 30 October, that was a drop of 12, meaning it had a rolling rate of 510.6 per 100,000 people.

Despite the drop in cases, the ward was still shaded purple in the weekly map for Cheshire East, with neighbouring areas covered in dark and lighter blue colours.

Purple represents areas with the highest rolling rate of 400 cases or more per 100,000 people, dark blue 201 or more per 100,000 and lighter blue 101 or more.

In the previous week 40 new cases were reported in Alsager West with a rolling rate of 704.2 per 100,000 people.

The latest figures show that Alsager East registered 20 new cases, an increase of four, with a rolling rate of 306.0 per 100,000 people.

The nearest other purple area to Alsager West is Kidsgrove West, East and Central.

Kidsgrove West has a rolling rate of 401.7, while Kidsgrove East and Central having rolling rates of 422.5 and 537.5 over the same period.

The nearest purple patch to the north remains Mobberley, Plumley and High Legh with a rolling rate of 610.0.

In comparison to other towns in the borough, 16 new cases were recorded in Haslington and Weston, which includes Oakhanger, an increase of one case and a rolling rate of 164.8

Fifteen positive cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Scholar Green, Rode Heath and Brereton, a drop of 16 and a rolling rate of 137.8.

In Sandbach North, there seven cases, a drop of one and a rolling rate of 113.1.

Eight new cases were recorded in Sandbach Ettiley Heath & Wheelock, an increase of eight and a rolling rate of 207.6 while Sandbach Heath saw 12 new cases, an increase of one and a rolling rate of 221.6.

There were 12 new cases in Holmes Chapel, down four and a rolling rate of 193.5.

For Cranage and Goostery, which includes Swettenham and the edge of Congleton, 12 new cases were reported, an increase of six and a rolling rate of 177.4.

There were 11 recorded cases in Congleton West Heath, an increase of four and a rolling rate of 159.8.

In Congleton Town, there were 11 positive coronavirus cases, a drop of two and a rolling rate of 153.6.

Seven positive cases were reported in Buglawton, a drop of one and a rolling rate of 97.1 while cases in Hightown, Mossley and Timbersbrook went up six, a drop of seven with a rolling rate of 111.5.

There were 23 new cases for Gawsworth and Macclesfield Forest, an increase of six and a rolling rate of 239.7.

Last week figures for parts of Crewe were "suppressed", which means there were fewer than three cases in a seven-day period.

The rolling rates for the Crewe wards up to 30 October were:

- Crewe North East 147.8

- Crewe Leighton 236.3

- Crewe North West 72.7

- Crewe Coppenhall & Underwood 92.7

- Crewe Town & Victoria Avenue 97.7

- Crewe Mill Street & College 61.0

- Crewe Gresty Road 84.2

- Crewe Sydney & Gateway 52.8

- Crewe South West & Wistaston 115.4

- Wistaston Green 131.3

- Willaston & Shavington 185.9
