Alsager: UEFA reveal Crewe chosen as base camp for Women's Euro 2022 Iceland national team

Iceland women's national football team will have their base camp in nearby Crewe during the Euro 2022 tournament - following the latest information revealed by UEFA.
The UEFA Women's EURO 2022 will be played across England from 6 to 31 July.
The 16 competing countries have confirmed their base camps for UEFA Women's EURO 2022 yesterday (June 14).
Iceland women's national football team will be based in Crewe throughout the tournament.
The exact location of where the team will be based in the town is yet to be revealed.
Iceland women's national team are nicknamed 'Stelpurnar Okkar,' meaning Our Girls.
They are placed in group D with the likes of Belgium, France and Italy.
England Women's national team have also confirmed they will be based in Teddington, South-West London.
The hosts will be hoping that playing within their own country can play an advantage in winning the tournament.
They will play under under the leadership of head coach Sarina Wiegman.
England finished runners-up to Finland in 2009 - the closest they have ever been to winning the Euros.
The Lionesses last hosted the women's Euros in 2005. That tournament, England were knocked out at the group stage.
They will have to get past the likes of Austria, Northern Ireland and Norway in Group A to reach the knockout stage.
Crewe is also not the only place in Cheshire where a national women's team will be based.
The Sweden women's national team will be based in Chester.
For the other 13 national teams, they will be based as follows:
- Austria: Bagshot, Surrey
- Belgium: Wigan, Greater Manchester
- Denmark: Richmond, Surrey
- Finland: Buckingham, Buckinghamshire
- France: Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire
- Germany: Isleworth, West London
- Italy: Accrington, Lancashire
- Netherlands: Manchester, Greater Manchester
- Northern Ireland: Southampton, Hampshire
- Norway: Uckfield, Sussex
- Portugal: Manchester, Greater Manchester
- Spain: Marlow, Buckinghamshire
- Switzerland: Leeds, Yorkshire
It is up to the nations themselves to confirm specific details of where they will be based.
UEFA is expected to reveal the exact bases nearer to the time of the tournament.
