We have all suffered in many different ways over the last 12 months.

The Alsager U3A has been unable to function at its full capacity when it was able to provide the normal 60 plus groups to its over 900 members.

Throughout this period, 12 groups have successfully used Zoom, email and last summer, we were able to allow walking, table tennis, outdoor bowls and cycling to function.

It is our intention, as restrictions are lifted, to start groups whenever possible. Walking, cycling and outdoor bowls were able to start in late April.

It may also be possible, from mid-May, to have table tennis, badminton and keep fit starting, if we continue to maintain the requirement of social distancing to emerge successfully from the lockdown.

All further indoor groups should hopefully be able to resume from the new term in September 2021.

A new Alsager and District U3A committee was formed at the virtual AGM in October and has worked tirelessly to ensure that we are ready to restart.

As with any committee, people's roles and tenure come to an end. In the case of Alsager U3A we will need to change our treasurer as he will have been, at the next AGM in October 2021, in office for the past six years.

Therefore, a member is urgently needed to take on the role of new treasurer.

If you have an understanding of finance and/or worked within a role which involves working in a financial setting, and have experience of ledger work, book-keeping, use of the SAGE system, and you could join us as a member of Alsager U3A then we would love to hear from you via email at [email protected]

As all our groups are led by a leader, for various reasons leaders sometimes decide not to carry on.

At this present time, we are looking for someone to take over bird watching, Spanish, Philately and Pilates.
