Alsager's newest town councillor, Cllr Rachel White, has revealed she's not standing in May's elections.

Cllr White was co-opted on to the council six months, ago following the resignation of Councillor Sue Helliwell due to health reasons.

She was previously assistant manager at Alsager Community Support, an organisation she still volunteers for, and put communication and climate change at the top of her agenda.

But Cllr White revealed today (Tuesday) that although she has enjoyed her short stint, she wants to spend more time with her husband, who is now retired.

"I have enjoyed my short stint as an Alsager Town Councillor and I would stand again but not this time," Rachel told Alsager Nub News.

"My husband and I have plans now that he is retired and we want to execute them while our health holds out."

Rachel's ward covers Central ward and she serves on the Alsager Civic and Services committee, Alsager Institute committee and the Personnel committee.
