GCSE students at Alsager School have been praised for their hard work in the first full round of exams since the pandemic.

Head of School, Andrea O'Neill, said students had worked incredibly hard and there were a lot of "exceptional sets of results" across the board.

And she also praised the school's "outstanding" teaching and pastoral staff for supporting students through their studies during challenging times.

Mrs O'Neill said: "This year group have worked exceptionally hard with formal exams taking place again this year.

"The results they collected today reflected the commitment they had shown to their learning, and it is wonderful that many will now be able to move confidently onto the next stage of their educational journey."

She added: "It was lovely to see them all this morning and great to see that many will be returning to our sixth form.

"The hard work has really paid off and there were a lot of exceptional sets of results across the board.

"Pupils have coped admirably with the disruption to their learning and have been supported by our outstanding teaching and pastoral staff.

"We have a number of students moving on to local colleges to embark on other exciting courses. I am certain that they will thrive, and I wish them all well."

Alsager School say they also have help for any students who need guidance over the coming weeks or those looking to join the school in the new term.

A spokesperson said: "Places are still available for anyone who does not have a post 16 course secured for September 2022 and would like to join our exceptionally high performing college.

"Please contact Mrs Haskew on [email protected] or phone 01270 871122 for more information."
