An organisation set up to help keep Alsager clean and tidy has celebrated another success – the Big Help Out.

Around 40 hardy individuals, ranging from six upwards, met at The 13 Club in Cedar Avenue and donned high vis jackets, grabbed big green bags, gloves and litter pickers and collected 35 bags of litter.

The group came together for the Big Help Out on the Coronation weekend and then enjoyed drinks and snacks and toasted the new King Charles III thanks to a Coronation Grant from Alsager Town Council.

Rachel White, Alsager Clean Team co-organiser said: "It was wonderful to have three families with primary school age children who are normally busy on Saturday mornings and therefore unable to attend Alsager Clean Team regular sessions.

"One enterprising youngster has already set up a litter picking club at her primary school and two young people working for Duke of Edinburgh awards attended and they plan to join the Clean Team.

"Alsager Clean Team is grateful to The 13 Club who kindly allowed us to use their premises for no charge."

Alsager Clean Team was set up in December 2021 and always welcomes new volunteers for its monthly litter picks on the 2nd Saturday morning of the month.

It takes place at different locations around Alsager. Equipment and training are provided and all ages are welcome but under 18s need to be accompanied by adults.
