An Alsager child who has a rare disease has a specially adapted trike – thanks to Alsager Round Table.

Three-year-old Fin Richards is now enjoying getting out and about in the Cranberry area of the town after getting his special trike which cost around £1,500.

Fin has Hirschsprung's Disease, a rare disease affecting one in 5000 babies and young children, as well as a chromosome duplication.

His mum, Leeann Thackwell, contacted Alsager Round Table asking if they could help with the funding of a special trike for her son.

"They were very helpful and donated the money to help buy it. It's a specialist trike which gives him the support he needs," said Leeann.

"We only got it this week and he's over the moon with it. He's waving at everyone and feels so included now.

"We can go out on little trips. I've got lots of things planned for Fin," said Leann whose son will be able to use the trike for about the next three years.

Leann got the trike from a Scottish-based company called Theraplay Ltd and has posted videos of her son enjoying he bike on his special Facebook page 'Fin's Hirschsprung's Journey ' here

Alsager Round Table spokesperson, Daz Antrobus, said they were only too happy to help.

He said: "Fin is a fantastic little boy. We couldn't let this one go by and we were delighted to help.

"Alsager Round Table is known for its work and helping the local community. We've seen photos of Fin on it and he looks so happy."
