An employee at Alsager's Twyford House Care Home who goes the extra mile has had praise heaped on her at the inaugural Lovett Care awards.

Michaela Rigby, whose has, say her colleagues, 'a compassionate, caring and respectful' nature, won the 'Promoting Fulfilled Lives' award.

Sixty people came together at the Cranage Estate in Holmes Chapel near Sandbach for a glittering evening of celebrations .

The event is an opportunity to recognise team members who 'go above and beyond' in supporting the residents in their care homes.

The finalists were nominated by colleagues, peers and residents in categories which included Exceptional Newcomer Award, Nurse of the year and Going the Extra Mile.

The host for the evening was Big Ian Donaghy who said: "It was inspiring to hear such selfless stories of people who change residents lives every day, a celebration of not just individuals but the teams they make up, it really felt like everyone had the same goal."

Michaela's colleagues described her as 'compassionate, caring and respectful' saying the unit is spotless, mealtimes run smoothly, additional activities and events take place, and she goes above and beyond for the residents.

"She has developed a loving and caring bond with them all and they are always extra happy when Michaela is on shift.", they said.
