Staff at Lawton Manor Care Home were delighted to be invited to have the Covid-19 vaccination by Mere Park Medical Centre which was facilitated by the Thirteen Club in Alsager yesterday (Wednesday).

Having the jab "really lifted everyone's spirits" at the Church Lawton care home, which is run by Barchester Healthcare, after "what has been a very challenging year for everyone".

Rebecca Whitehouse, general manager at Lawton Manor, said: "We've had a year like no other and the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel.

"Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected."

Liz Maxwell, activities co-ordinator at Lawton Manor, said: "I am so pleased to have been given the vaccine.

"It will help to keep our residents safe, and it is the first step in getting things back to normal and having a buzz of visitors in the home once again.

"We are very proud to be a part of this community."
