Have you ever wondered what the Motability scheme is? Experts at Swansway Motor Group's Stoke Audi dealership explain.

"The Motability scheme is an all-inclusive way for people who receive a mobility allowance to drive a brand-new vehicle with the cost of everything, except fuel, covered as part of the lease agreement. Motability Specialists at Stoke Audi are on hand to let you know all about the scheme, what it involves, and how you can access it.

Established in 1978, the Motability scheme allows people with disabilities to trade in their mobility allowance for a brand-new car. Over 600,000 people have opted to use the Motability scheme since it began.

The all-inclusive worry-free package from Motability includes:

  • A new car every three years
  • Insurance
  • Breakdown cover
  • Servicing, maintenance and repairs
  • Adaptations, many at no extra cost
  • Road tax
  • Window & Windscreen repair / replacement
  • Up to 60,000 mileage allowance over 3 years
  • BP Chargemaster Wallbox (With full electric vehicles)"

If you aren't sure about whether you're eligible for the Motability Scheme, Stoke Audi Motability experts explain the criteria needed.

"The Motability Scheme is open to all who are receiving one of the following benefits, with at least 12 months remaining on their award:

  • Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
  • Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
  • War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

Furthermore, parents or guardians can apply for the scheme on behalf of children under the age of three, three months prior to their third birthday. However, the lease can only begin once the child's allowance has been granted.

For children over three, applications can still be made, but they must be filed under the name of the child's designated appointee, such as a parent or guardian who is managing the child's HRMC DLA allowance."

Choosing a vehicle on the Motability Scheme may be easier than you think, with specialists talking us through the process;

"Finding a vehicle on the Motability scheme couldn't be easier. First you should take a look at a vehicle that might be of interest to you from the Motability offerings available. Next, you make an appointment with your nearest Motability accredited centre that sells the brand of car you are interested, if you need any adaptations made to the vehicle, you'll be able to discuss these with a Motability Specialist and finally, place your order.

Each vehicle's lease lasts 3 years, so once this time is up you simply return the car to the dealership you collected it from. Then you can arrange for a new Motability vehicle to be ordered."

Swansway Motor Group have 6 manufactures across 18 locations which offer Motability vehicles, these include Stoke and Stafford Audi.

Currently vehicles on the Swansway Audi Motability scheme include The Audi A1, A3, Q2, Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron. However, Motability Offers change each quarter and therefore these vehicles may not be on the scheme after 31st March 2024.

Each site has a dedicated team of Motability specialists on hand to guide you through the process.

For anyone hoping to learn more about the Motability scheme, there is information on the Swansway Website, along with the latest vehicles on the Motability scheme.
