Planning permission for the vast new Alderley Park development looks set to be approved once Cheshire East Council's planning committee reviews it.

A report for the committee recommends approval for the demolition of several current buildings on the site and further construction and development of two buildings.

The planning permission outlines the ambition for the project including lab and office space alongside food and ancillary retail space. The development would also support 1,600 on-site jobs with 650 jobs during construction.

The planning application outlines its intention to be used for the Life Sciences industry which keeps it in line with the original purpose of the park and the report recommends that conditions are placed on the development

These include the condition that profits are to be reinvested into the life sciences sector on the development and also '15% affordable housing to be provided on-site under the current Life Sciences Employee Housing Scheme.'

Alongside the planning approval recommendation, the committee will also look at an application for a retirement development to be built on a site just north of the proposed development.

The developers Bruntwood SciTech and Symphony Park are seeking approval for a retirement community comprising 159 extra care units.
